My Buddy...

So I went to the Doctor's yesterday for my 34 week appointment. The nurse weighed me and said I had lost a pound since my last visit, and the doctor said it looked like the baby was measuring a little small. She said it was pretty normal to be measuring a little small at this point (whatever that means), but to go ahead and schedule another ultrasound. She didn't act like it was a big deal so I wasn't too worried, and I was a little excited that we would get to have another ultrasound since our last one was in March. My ultrasound appointment was this morning, and Matt was able to come with me so that was good. I started to worry a little more and more before we went in, but, all is well! The doctor is still going to look at the pictures and measurements and call me to talk about it, but according to the sonographer, he's looking great! He weighs 5lbs. 12 oz!!! She said I'm carrying him well which is why I don't look so big. It was such a different experience seeing him this time because he's so much bigger than he was at the last ultrasound. We could only see one little part of him at a time. Oh and he has a little bit of hair! At one point she was focusing on his face and his eyes and mouth were closed, and then all of a sudden he opened his mouth all wide- it was so cute! She was focusing on his feet at one point while his was jabbing me in the ribs. She pointed to the screen and was like "so that's where he's kicking you". I was just thinking, "really.. that's where he's kicking me? I wasn't aware.." Anyway, it was really cute. Oh and "he's still a boy" said the sonographer. It was pretty obvious :) Well I don't have a scanner but as soon as I can get the pictures scanned I'll put some of them up. He's so cute and I can't stop smiling! I'm so happy he's big and healthy and I can't wait till he comes out. Just about 5 weeks to go!
Just for fun, here's a fuzzy picture I took of myself right at 34 weeks.

I'm starving!

Just about 2 and a half hours ago I was wiping clean a big plate that had been loaded with a pecan brownie covered in ice cream, whipped cream, and hot fudge, which came immediately after I demolished a giant steak dinner.. Yet, I feel like I could eat that entire meal all over again, right now! I'm just so freaking hungry. All the time. By the way, this was the fourth steak I've ever ordered from a restaurant, and the first one was only about 4 months ago. I've got a sneaking suspicion about who's behind all these meat cravings...

He's just so naughty :) Here we are at 31 weeks.

Graduation

Sunday the 24th was my graduation from San Diego State University. I graduated with a B.S. in Child and Family Development. I loved my major and I got to know some really great friends and teachers, but I'm not sad that it's over! My last semester was ridiculously hard and I'm so happy to take a break. I've got 10 weeks till Little Buddy comes and all I'm going to do between now and then is go on walks, read books (for fun!), take naps, watch movies, and slowly organize my apartment. It's a dream come true!

I can't believe I met Matt at the beginning of my second semester! He's been with me since my freshman year (and has financed my education since my sophomore year)!
Thanks mom and dad for pretty much completely paying for my school until Matt came along and took over :) It was such a load off of my shoulders to have my family always taking care of me!
It was so nice of my family to come sit through the most boring graduation ever. I didn't even invite anyone else because I didn't want people to feel obligated to come. So take it as a compliment that I didn't invite you :)

It's all over. I never have to go to school or write another dreadful paper again. I can hardly conceptualize that right now, but it still feels pretty good!

Surprise!

My 3 best gals from school surprised me today with a mini baby shower! We met at P.F. Changs for a "goodbye lunch" for one of the girls, Melissa, whose moving a few days after graduation.. 'Twas not so. They all got there before me and were sneaky, so when we got to our table it was all decorated and there were presents and flowers and an ice cream cake. They all just turned and said "Surprise!" It was so sweet and thoughtful and they gave me such cute little outfits and blankets for the baby.

Surprise!
Tiana, Melissa, and Amanda: such sweet women

The ice cream cake melted.. but was still so gooood.

Amanda, Melissa, and Tiana: the 3 best things about this last year of school and probably the only 3 reasons I'm sad to see it end!

And now an excerpt from "Hop on Pop"...

"Where is Brown? There is Brown! Mr. Brown is out of town.

Back Black. Brown came back. Brown came back with Mr. Black.

Snack Snack. Eat a snack. Eat a snack with Brown and Black."

-Dr. Seuss

One of Matt's favorite things to do lately is read to our little buddy. This evening's reading, with these and more deep thoughts by Dr. Seuss, proved to be especially entertaining for us all. If you haven't read Hop on Pop lately, you should check it out.

Lots of things...

Last weekend we had two great houseguests for a few days. Matt's brother Jason and his cute son Noah came out from Tennessee. We went to the beach, downtown and saw pirate ships :), and the boys went to D-land on Friday. We loved having them and hope they had as good of a time as we did!

Happy Birthday to Matt! April 10. Matt doesn't like to make any big deal out of his birthday- nobody really even knows when it is his birthday, but I like birthdays so we have fun. We had some good Mexican food at Las Olas in Cardiff, rented a movie, and had birthday french silk pie!

About 24 weeks in this picture. Little Buddy and I have grown quite a bit in the past few weeks. My back and ribs are sure feeling it! I got a wonderful pregnancy pillow that's like a giant curved body pillow that I can wrap all around me. It's my nest and I love it. It actually does make my back feel a lot better.

Our little baby definitely has sleeping patterns already. And I feel him all over the place now at the same time! Before I could feel him move in one place at a time, but in the last few weeks I've been feeling him all over, like he's stretching out and kicking me on the right side and punching me on the left or something. It's so funny to me. It seems like that mostly happens around midnight or 1am. But it doesn't really bother me because I love him...

Oh Month of May, Won't You Come Rescue Me from the Boring Abyss of School that is My Life???

Why don't I ever write anything on my blog anymore besides updates about my baby? My life is really boring. Besides the excitement I feel for the pending birth of Little Buddy, all I do is go to school, then come home and do homework, or do homework, then go to school. Night classes are a B. Like today: I sat on the couch and did homework till 2:30. Then I took a shower. Then I went to school. For 6 hours... When I called Matt to tell him I was on my way home tonight, he told me all about how his night went- just a little trip to the beach with friends, then out to a delightful Thai dinner. The highlight of my day, you ask? I'll tell you: discovering that if I sit a little slunched over on the couch, my belly makes a perfect table for my Cheese-Its. The Cheese-Its I eat while doing endless hours of homework. wow.

Just about 21 Weeks...

He seems to get more and more active! I've noticed over a few days that he gets especially active at around 10 in the morning. I just sit there and watch him make me bounce!.. it's so strange but I love it!

It's a BOY!!!

Yes that's right! I get my very own little buddy! I have tons of pictures of him but I have to wait till I can scan them to post them. But I will. He's so freaking cute you won't want to miss out on his cuteness. He had the most precious little hiccups during the ultrasound. OH gosh he's the cutest. She said his feet are 1 and 1/2 inches long already! He's getting so big. Everything looks good; we saw his heart beating, his spine, his brain, the umbilical cord and his little hands and feetsies! When we saw his face, his mouth was wide open. Matt thought it was spooky but I thought it was precious. Anyway, we couldn't be more THRILLED knowing that we're having a little boy! He becomes more real all the time and I just can't wait till he gets here!!!

18 Weeks Pregnant tummy shot

I love how I don't look pregnant at all yet- just a little extra fat... it's my favorite.
Ok so on Valentine's Day I felt the baby move for the first time and since then he/she's been moving around the clock! When the baby is moving a lot, I'll put my hand where it's moving to see if I can feel it from the outside, which so far I haven't been able to. Anyway, just now I was sitting here, minding my own business, when the baby starts doing somersaults and karate kicks like crazy. I put my hand on it and boom! i felt a kick on my hand! It was so hard that I quickly pulled up my shirt to see if I could see it move and I totally did!!! A little part of my tummy just popped out all of a sudden! It was the coolest thing I've ever seen! After those two raucous kicks the baby settled down. I think the little baby was just uncomfortable and trying to get into a good napping position :)
